Details on Graduate Credit for Summer 2015: Hudson River NEH Workshop
3 Graduate Credits in the Humanities will be awarded to those who successfully register for and complete the course, LIBS-663-01, “The Hudson River in the 19th Century and the Modernization of America.” Credit is awarded through Ramapo College’s Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (MALS) program and is being administered by the college’s continuing education office.
Course Description: This course offers NEH Summer Scholars an opportunity to extend the learning experience of the workshop with a series of focused assignments. It is open only to those who attend the full Landmarks Workshop on “The Hudson River in the Nineteenth Century and the Modernization of America.”
Eligibility: Anyone who has been accepted to the NEH “Landmarks” workshop, and who holds an undergraduate degree, is eligible to register for graduate credit.
Tuition and Registration: Tuition for 3 credits is $1,165.00. Registration for the course is simple: register by filling out the online form, send in proof of your undergraduate degree (a transcript will typically suffice) and pay your tuition fee. A link to the registration page is provided here.
Dates and Schedule: NEH Summer Scholars may register for graduate credit at any point up to the Thursday of their workshop week. Scholars should keep in mind, however, that pre-workshop preparation in the form of completion of all workshop readings is expected, and those who choose to register later will have to catch up on the journaling assignment. The final assignment (a unit plan) and journal with responses to readings and workshop lectures, are both due in early August. Extensions may be available upon written request to those who need additional time in August to complete their work.
Syllabus: The Syllabus for the course will be posted here soon.
